There are different prayers timetables available from the internet and other sources, and they differ on times. This, for many years, had created a status of confusion for some people with regard to the prayers and Jama’a times.
The Islamic Society had worked very hard with brothers and various official organisations to establish the most accurate times for the prayers at the Town of Colchester. After months of discussions and written communications with the “World Islamic League”, the Islamic Society committee of the year 2001 had generated the current timetable, which has been used at the Essex University Islamic Society as the official prayer timetable since then. During the discussions with the “World Islamic League”, the correct calculation method for the prayer times at Colchester was identified. This was based on the location of Colchester (Latitude & longitude) and the phases of the Sun during the year. The brothers had then sat down and created each prayer times manually for the whole year, and then collated the existing timetable for all the prayers.
