Following the Islamic Society Elections yesterday, we are very glad to announce the names of the new ISoc Executive Committee (below). The Ex-committee wishes the Islamic Society members all the best with the new committee and would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the welfare of the Islamic Society this year. You can see that we have more positions this year, and this has been intended to make the executive committee responsibilities proceed more smoothly and easily.

We would also like to ask the sisters who would like to be in the Islamic Society Committee to email us expressing their wish to be executive members.

Please note that the new Exec Committee will take over effectively in a formal occasion next week (probably Wednesday). The Ex-Committee will then hand over its responsibilities to the new committee and will grant attendance certificates to the French and Arabic classes’ students and teachers and thank-you certificates to those who contributed to the Islamic Awareness Week and Islamic Conference. Please expect an email regarding this in the next couple of days.

On behalf of the Islamic Society at the University of Essex and the Conference Organising Committee, I would like to thank each one of you for the tireless efforts you exerted for the conference to happen. Alhamdulillah, the conference went very well and we have received a very positive feedback. Nothing would have been done without the help of Allah, and then your precious efforts.
I am speechless before those brothers and sisters who devoted plenty of their time, money, and energy to help us organise the two events (Islamic Conference and Islamic Awareness Week).
I am not fortunate enough to know or remember all the names of those who devoted a great deal of their time for the events, but I hope that my memory would serve me to mention only some.
Brothers:
Dr. Mateen Durrani, the Conference Chairman and father of ISoc
Amgud Alshayeb, the mass of devotion
Atif Alhejali, the man of hard times
Wael Alharbi, the man of sincerity
Fares, the unknown knight
Abu Lina, the website man
Tahir, the AV man
Ahmad Abu Lifa, our imam in prayers
Talal Darwish, the Counsellor of the Society
The Libyan Revolutionaries: Muhammad Khraiyef, Marwan, Usama, Umar, Ramadan, …..
The heroes in the battlefield: Umar Abdul Kareem,Ahmad Alabras, Majd, Zardad, Muhammad Kapir (the Bilal of the society), Muhammad Asfour, Sami, Muhammad Sulaiman, Ahmad Aljbouri, Farouq, Saeed Saeed, Borzhan or Borjan, Mahmoud Alhamad, Ahmad Alhindi, Abdullah Almuslih, Khalifa, Abdul Karim Al-Zahrani, Ahmad Alzahrani, Ibrahim Kalaji, Fuaad, Abdul Hai and other brothers I don’t know or can’t remember.
The Saudi Society (Abdullah Alasmari and all the brothers and sisters who took care of the coffee, tea, and sweets on a daily basis.
Sisters:
Ruksana, Suhaila, Hanan, the ‘Henna’ sister, Um Aisha, Marina, Darulehsan, Fariza, Serife, Manal, our guest Vicky, and other sisters I don’t know or can’t remember.
Our prayers and sincere thanks go to those who were working in secret, either by donating money for the events or sending invitations to their friends.
