      Qur’an and Tafseer

      We are very glad to let you know that we are going to resume the “Qur’an and Tafseer” sessions the Islamic Society used to offer. Please join us with brother Abdul Aziz Al-Johar (Abu Abdillah) and let’s find the pearls of the Qur’an.
      Venue: Prayer room in the Multifaith Chaplaincy.
      Time: Every Sunday after the Maghrib prayer.

        Membership discount

        FYI, the Students’ Union has announced a membership discount for all those who wish to join any of the societies. The offer will officially last till the 1st of February. If you haven’t joined the Islamic Society so far, please take this opportunity to sign up with a lower fee (£4 only). Please also advise any non-registered members to do so before they miss the offer out. The offer applies to both students and guests.

          ISoc Ads

          You can now use your Islamic Society website for your advertisements. You go to our website and then click on the tab ‘ISoc ads’ and post your ad there to receive comments. This is in fact for us to avoid sending advertisement emails to all the members and for you not to feel shy to ask us for this. If anyone is interested, they can always visit that webpage and check.

            Helping out

            The Islamic Conference and the Islamic Awareness Week are coming up very soon and we are looking for volunteers who can specify a few hours of their time for the two events. We’ve made a time planner online and people can now follow the link below and fill in the slots they can do and save their options. If you are willing to help and have filled in some time slots, please email the Islamic Society with your full name and phone number.                 Campus closed today at 7:00 PM

                We have known that the university campus will be closed from 7:00 PM today (31/12/2012) till 7:00 AM tomorrow. People who work in labs won’t be able to have access to the labs available during this time.

                    Your conference needs you!

                    Allah SWT says in the Holy Qur’an,

                    —ومن أحسن قولاً ممن دعا إلى الله وعمل صالحاً وقال إنني من المسلمين—

                    “And who is better in speech than the one who calls towards Allah, acts righteously, and says, ‘I am one of those who submit themselves to Allah’.”

                    The Islamic Society is holding a conference in February inshaAllah and your donations are urgently needed! May Allah SWT accept the best thing we can ever do, and that is the call towards Him. The train of Islam is moving fast and the lucky ones are those who don’t miss it.
